Coach Jason Santangelo
Former Butler baseball player Jason Santangelo enters hisfirst season as an assistant coach for the 2010 Jayhawk West Champion Grizzlies.
He comes to Butler after serving three years as an infield/hitting coach for the Emporia State Hornets,a highly-successful NCAA Division II program. ESU played in the NCAA tournament in each of the three seasons with Santagelo on the coaching staff, including a national runner-up finish in 2009.
Prior to coaching at Emporia State, Santagelo spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Labette County Community College. While he was at Labette County three players earned all-conference honors. Prior to coaching at Labette County he spent one season as the head coach at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colo.
Before joining the college coaching ranks Santangelo spent two season as the head coach at Ellis High School in Ellis, Kan.
Santagelo’s playing career culminated at Fort Hays State University, under then head coach Bob Fonelli. While at Fort Hays State Santangelo was a 2002 Division II All-American at second base. He also earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors during the 2002 campaign. In 2001 he was a second team All-Conference Selection for the Tigers.
The Hutchinson, Kan. native has a wife, Tessa and two sons, Cyrus and Baylor..

Coach Ty Reese
Coach Ty Reese is entering his second year as a Butler County Community College assistant baseball coach. He will be working with the pitchers.
This past summer Coach Reese was the assistant coach on the summer collegiate team, the El Dorado Bronchos. The Bronchos won the Jayhawk League and went on to win the NBC World Series. Before coming to Butler County Community College, he coached the Emporia High School Legion baseball team.
During his playing days, Reese attended Butler County Community College. He was a member of the 2005 Grizzlies team that was Jayhawk Conference champions. He then attended Emporia State University where he was a member of the 2006 World Series team. ESU qualified for the NCAA Division II regionals all three years that Reese played with the Hornets.
Coach Reese is originally from McPherson, Kan. and now lives in El Dorado with his wife, Audrey.
